1. Personalised BBQ Set

For any grill loving Dad, why not get the kids to decorate a set of BBQ utensils which you can pick up in most stores.  Add a message like ‘No. 1 Dad’ or “Grill master Steve’ to make it really personalised.

You will need:

  • BBQ Utensils
  • Acrylic paint

2. Giant Personalised Cookie

An easy peasy recipe using stock cupboard ingredients. It’s quicker than individual cookies and makes a bigger impact. The kids can get involved and decorate it with Smarties/M&Ms or chocolate chips which is way less messy than icing!

You will need:

  • 225g (1 cup) butter melted and cooled, unsalted is best but you can use salted
  • 350g (2 cups) soft light brown sugar is best but regular will do if that’s what you have
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt (remove if using salted butter)
  • 2 ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 400g (3 1/3 cups) plain / all purpose flour
  • 2 packs of Smarties/M&Ms or chocolate chips

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 170C / 340F and line a 8 inch/ 20cm cake tin with baking paper
  • Mix everything except the flour and chocolate packets in a bowl using a wooden spoon until well combined. Then mix in the flour until you can’t see it any more. Add 1 packet of the Smarties/M&Ms or chocolate chips and mix again until well distributed.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into the tin and use the 2nd packet of Smarties/M&Ms or chocolate chips to decorate. Arrange them to spell out ‘DAD’ or whatever your little ones like to call him, or simply make a big heart shape, whatever the kids want to do is best!
  • Put in the oven for roughly 15-20 minutes. It’s ready when the edge has turned golden brown and it’s flattened down. It’ll still be a bit gooey in the middle but you can cook it longer if Dad prefers a more crispy cookie.

3. Personalised Snack Tin

If your little one’s Dad loves to snack this is the perfect gift. You can personalise both the tin and the snack mix inside it!

You will need:

  • Empty biscuit tin
  • Acrylic paint or
  • Paper, clear tape & felt tip pens

First get your kids to help decorate the tin. They can decorate it with a message like ‘Happy Father’s Day’ or ‘Dad’s Snacks - Hands Off’. Acrylic paints work well, just make sure it is completely dry before handling. If you don’t have paints you can cut a disk of paper to the size of the top of the tin and a long strip to wrap the sides. Carefully tape the disk and strip of paper to the top and sides of the tin. Then simply fill with a range of Dad’s favourite biscuits, nuts and chocolates.

4. Personalised Shaving or Beard Oil

Making shaving or beard oil is so simple, just mix a few ingredients together and it'll leave his face or beard feeling silky smooth.

You will need:

  • A Carrier Oil - which is any tasteless oil. Grapeseed oil works well and is one of the cheaper options but you could use jojoba, argan, or almond oil if you have it.
  • Essential oil - sandalwood, cedarwood or eucalyptus work well
  • Small empty bottle - little alcohol miniature bottles work really well.
  • White self adhesive label or paper and clear tape or masking tape

Remove any labels from your empty bottle. Then create a new personalised one with a self adhesive label, small piece of masking tape or by cutting a paper label and attaching it with clear tape. Top tip - cover the whole label with clear tape if you can to stop any ink from running.

Fill the bottle to around 90% with carrier oil, then add 10% of essential oil. Start with a few drops at a time and add more to get the right balance. It's the perfect little gift!

5. Personalised BBQ Rub

With summer in full swing, why not make up a batch of personalised BBQ rub. Pop it in a decorated jar or label it with a little message like ‘Dad’s secret ingredient’.

Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar – packed
  • 2 tablespoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

If the family enjoys a bit of spice you can add

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne
  • 2 teaspoons of paprika

Method:

  • Put all of your ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a whisk or fork.
  • Transfer to the empty jar or any air tight container
